Fishermen get lessons in mirco-level planning

A workshop on micro planning for growing inland fish was organised by the Kolleru Rural Development Service Organisation (KRDSO), a voluntary organisation and NCRI at Eluru in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on March 26, 2010.

The workshop is intended to educate the grassroots level fishermen of West Godavari, Krishna, Khammam district and adjoining Kolleru lake in the rearing of fresh water fish. While the stakeholders at different points of the supply chain are flourishing due to mediocracy in the business, the grassroots level fishermen are in penury. Hence the need to build up their capacity by way of enlightening and educating them through transfer of technology and decentralised administrative procedures for a specific and viable micro-level planning.

Over 50 persons, including women and youth engaged in fishing from the three districts participated. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri S.Joel Raj, Deputy Director of Fisheries Department, Eluru, on behalf of the District Collector, West Godavari.
