The NCRI’s (National Council of Rural Institutes) supports rural institutes for promotion of rural higher education. The vision and purpose of NCRI are unique and founded on Gandhian ethos. To accomplish its objectives, NCRI invites project proposals in various categories (Please see guidelines).
The proposed project should:
- Be in conformity with NCRI objectives and should invariably be centred on education (Awareness programmes are not education programmes).
- Be strictly rural-based and result-oriented.
- Be area-specific i.e the problem should have a strong local relevance and the solution proposed must be clear and practicable
- Not be duplications of other government or non-government schemes
- Surveys cannot be a part of the project funding – all survey / research should have been conducted prior to proposal submission and the results of the same should be the basis for proposing a project. The survey report should also be enclosed
- Be presented in clear terms viz: coverage area, target group, number of beneficiaries and the impact / outcome in quantifiable terms, with clear direction on how the implementing organisation plans to achieve the desired outcome in the specified timeframe.
Further, applicants are also requested to note that:
- The grant shall be given only for the programmes and not for administrative expenses.
- Those organisations that have been granted assistance by NCRI shall invariably display a banner that says this is a NCRI sponsored and funded programme.
- Preference will be given to area-based organisations.
- Eligible organisations will be required to make a power point presentation (PPT) at NCRI. The following rules shall strictly be followed in the process:
- The person making the PPT should have in-depth knowledge of the subject (in the proposed project).
- The person making the PPT should necessarily be the president, chairman or secretary of the applying organisation. Any other representative either from outside or from within the organisation shall not be allowed to make the presentation.
- The participation in the presentation is voluntary.
All proposals should necessarily include a certified copy of the evaluation report(s), if any, of any programme(s) / project(s) that the organisation has undertaken and which is / are similar to the one proposed.
Please note that incomplete or vague project proposals will be rejected without assigning any reason and the decision of the NCRI shall be final and no correspondence shall be entertained in this regard. However, this does not preclude the institution from submitting a fresh proposal.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Please do not be mislead by agencies / organisations purportedly claiming to be assisting with the project sanction process. The NCRI has its own systems in place for screening project proposals and all proposals received go through several levels of assessment by internal and external committees. There is also an open forum for discussion where grant-seeking organisations make a presentation of their proposals, which is kind of a public audit that makes the process transparent. Therefore, please do not be mislead if any agency / individual approaches you with the promise of assisting you in this regard in any manner whatsoever. You are also requested to bring such occurrences to the notice of the NCRI and seek clarifications.
