Profile of Dr. SV Prabhath
Dr. S. V. Prabhath has a disting uished career, combining a brilliant academic background he is a postgraduate in political science from S.V. University, A.P and has completed his M.B.A. in International Business from Southern Cross University, Australia.  He is also a doctorate in Entrepreneurship Development from Nagarjuna University, A.P.

The different positions held by him in his long and varied career include working for five years as District Collector and Magistrate of various districts in Madhya Pradesh, Managing Director of two Textile Mills in Madhya Pradesh, Principal Director of National Institute of Small Industry Extension Training, Hyderabad, for six years and Principal Secretary in different departments of Govt. of Chhattisgarh.  He is presently the Chairman of NCRI (National Council of Rural Institutes), Hyderabad since December 2007.

He has launched several initiatives in his varied career, some of the most noteworthy being empowerment of poor rural women through cooperatives, bringing customer orientation in speedy disposal of public grievances, revising labour laws as per ILO conventions, introducing schemes for industrial peace and harmony and bringing in administrative reforms through new management practices and IT applications in various government departments.

During his tenure as Principal Director, NISIET (National Institute of Small Industry Extension Training), Hyderabad, he has taken up the challenge of revitalising the Institute by changing the organisational structure and creating centres / cells for various functional areas which worked as autonomous units, thus improving the overall efficiency and productivity of the organisation.

He has wide international exposure through participation in international seminars and study tours in Korea and Italy, interactive meetings with policy makers in Britain and visits to Sri Lanka and Mauritius to study the possibilities of technology transfer and cooperation with Indian companies.

His current assignment at NCRI is focussed on redefining the original mandate of the organisation and bringing in new creative solutions for the revival of Gandhian and rural institutions involved in rural higher education/rural development.  He has identified and evolved new strategies for programmes in peace and conflict resolution, micro-planning, networking with other institutions and creating an information database for rural resources which can be easily accessed by farmers and other stakeholders in rural development.

Having many awards and honors to his credit, he is a regular contributor to various journals on issues relating to development, entrepreneurship, public policy, rural higher education and Gandhian ideas. Besides organising several workshops and seminars at both national and international levels, he has participated in several others. With his positive approach to men and matters and resolute commitment, sheer determination and a missionary zeal in the pursuit of organisational goals, he has established a  name for himself in the public domain.
