‘Gandhi Today’ is a special volume consisting of a collection of short papers associated with the relevance of Gandhian ideas to the contemporary world contribued by eminent personalities, Gandhians and academicians from various countries of the world. The book puts a focus on how Gandhian ideals would provide us solutions to face the present day problems of energy crisis, environmental degradation, widening gap of rich and poor, obstacles to sustainable development, rural unemployment, rural higher education, growing social unrest, conflict resolution, problems of extremism and terrorism, declining standards in public life and other related issues.

It is no exaggeration to mention here that this book has been made possible despite several budgetary restrictions and limitations of expertise of our own. I am sure that this is no mean achievement and undoubtedly would set a trend in bringing out more such books of this nature in the days to come. ‘Gandhi Today’ would not have seen the light of the day without the efforts of Prof. Raghavulu, eminent academician and former Vice-chancellor, Nagarjuna University, who has rendered guidance in many ways. Another person needs to be congratulated is Smt. Sita Devi, Assistant Project Officer, RRIC, who had put in special efforts in bringing out this book single-handedly by coordinating with everyone involved in the production. The Coordinator of The Wheel, Shri GVVSDS Prasad and Mrs. Kezevino Aram, Director, Shanti Ashram, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, with their contribution by networking with authors across the world ensured quality contributions for the book. Last, but not the least, Shri S.K. Jha of Serials Publications deserves special mention in this regard for bringing the publication out in a record time and within a limited budget, and for fixing an affordable price.
